Zé Manoel | Não Negue Ternura

Singer, composer and pianist from Pernambuco, North East of Brazil, Zé Manoel brought his third album, No Meu Coração Nu, in the challenging year of 2020. Released through the Jóia Moderna label and produced by Luisão Pereira, the album features appearances by names such as the legendary Bahian conductor Letieres Leite, by French drummer, singer and composer Stephane San Juan, by Grupo Bongar and by the musician and producer Kassin, responsible for the signature of his second album, Canção e Silêncio (2015), alongside Carlos Eduardo Miranda. In No Meu Coração Nu, the compositions by the Pernambuco native address with a gentle melancholy of painful memories of the African diaspora and the native peoples of Brazil. In this episode of Lampeja, he talks about the song "Não Negue Ternura", which has the participation of the Bahian artist Luedji Luna. And then you hear a playlist of glowing Brazilian music.

“'Não Negue Ternura' is a partnership with the Bahian artist and composer Luedji Luna. We arrived in São Paulo at the same time, me from Pernambuco and she from Bahia. I have played in some of her shows and she in some of mine. In her show that took place at Ibirapuera's auditorium, we wrote this song. It talks about love, acceptance, affection... About overcoming barriers alongside people who make you stronger,” tells Zé Manoel.
