Nação Zumbi | Maracatu Atômico

Updated: Dec 21, 2023

The guitarist Lúcio Maia, member of the historical northwest band Nação Zumbi, tells how the idea for the re-reading of "Maracatu Atômico" came up, a song composed by Jorge Mautner and Nelson Jacobina, which gained a new projection with the avant-garde band. And then, more incandescent Brazilian music.

"Gilberto Gil taught me to play 'Maracatú Atômico' and we (Chico Science and Nação Zumbi) thought it would be cool to re-record this song. It is a song that speaks of the psychedelia of life, of the everyday things that we can see as universes in small spaces, like the raindrop. It is a song that we’ve been playing for over 20 years," says Lúcio Maia.

Check out the radio show aired on Unisinos FM on April 21, 2019.
